Rihanna’s Skin Care Stings!
I have yet to get a skin peel, although I heard that getting one does in fact get rid of some of those stubborn dark marks that just won’t go away. Hyper-pigmentation can sometimes be treated through chemical peels…Not too sure about chemical peels (I have sensitive skin), but Rihanna got one and here’s what she had to say :
I had a facial and I wasn’t used to getting them. It was right before I filmed the video for Umbrella.’ They gave me this peel – [the facialist] was like,
Oh yeah, you should do a peel,
and I’m like, Okay, yeah, of course, I’ll do a peel.
I didn’t have any idea what it was. My skin was so sensitive and irritated, and when I went to do the video, the makeup started to burn me so badly. It started to really, really, really burn. We just had to blow it and fan it. It burned until it couldn’t burn anymore.”
Chemical Peels do cause extreme sun sensitivity and sunscreen should always be applied at all times when outdoors.
- Women of color should take precautions when using skin peels, aggressive skin peels may aggravate and upset melanin production, -thus resulting in darkening of the skin.
