Zits always seem to have the most inconvenient time.  Like the day before you have to serve as maid of honor at a wedding, you might notice a pimple just forming on the tip of your nose.  Or a nasty breakout is likely to happen right before you have to go on that date that you’ve waited ages to be asked to….90%  of the world’s  population has likely experienced some form of zits by the time they are 17-years-old. In order to prevent breakouts, you must it is important to first know what causes it.

Pimples and zits are similar words that used to describe bumps, blackheads or whiteheads that usually appear on your face, neck or back. Pimples and zits can appear alone or in bunches of one or  two.

What’s the Difference between zits and pimples?

The main difference between zits and acne, is that acne usually appears in groups of more than one pimple, and can cover a large portion of your face, whereas zits usually show up as one inflammation or two. Your Skin Journey:  20’s, 30’s, 40’s , 50+:

Keep your skin clear, radiant and glowing even as you get older…

The aging process can cause the skin to pass through many different changes. Our hormones, genetics, the environment and methods and products we have in place to take care of our skin will all effect how we age. It is  important to know that what works for one woman,  is quite different from what will work for another woman, products that may work for a teenager, might not necessarily be effective on a 40 year old woman;  – hopefully, acne breakouts are a thing of the past by then.

As both men and women age, the  skin goes through a few dramatic changes. From the moment we hit puberty, we need to start taking good care of our skin in order to maintain its health even through  menopause and beyond. Having the proper skin care routine and using the right products earlier on, will help  delay the signs of aging, as well as  allow you to maintain that soft, even- toned skin you always enjoyed in your younger years.

The first defense against aging skin is choosing the proper cleanser that is suitable for your age and skin type. Washing you face daily before bed and early morning with cool water as well as using a great cleanser will keep your pores clear of dirt and oil and  allow your skin to breathe.  You will also reduce  the appearance of unflattering pimples, whiteheads or blackheads.

The most important thing to remember when choosing a cleanser or moisturizer, is to make sure it matches your skin type.  For example, if you have oily skin, buy an oil-free cleanser and moisturizer , and if you have sensitive skin, go with a cleanser that is hypoallergenic and scent free.

Your 20’s

Goal: Do Not Neglect Your Skin

Besides our childhood, our twenties are probably the time where our skin is the healthiest it will ever be. For many of us,  the days of acne and breakouts are over, and many of us  have yet to begin  obsessing over wrinkles and age spots.-Unless you were an avid tanning booth worshiper in your teens!

Your 20’s are not a time to neglect your skin, but the most important time to take good care of  your skin, in order to maintain its health for the future years.  The way you treat your skin  at this time, the smoother, healthier and more elastic it will be later on.

Your 30’s

Goal: Prevent Premature Aging

Once many women hit thirty, we tend to go a little overboard with paranoia. We start to look in the mirror a little more than usual, trying to find the first wrinkle or fine line under our eyes around our mouths e.t.c – It’s normal for many women to feel that it’s all downhill from 30!

Thankfully to many beauty products in the marketplace today,  it doesn’t always have to be that way. A woman of 30+ can still achieve and maintain youthful, glowing and healthy skin just by eating right and using the appropriate products! With the proper care and maintenance of our bodies as well as our skin; women in their 30’s  can achieve beautiful wrinkle-free skin -and that’s without using any cosmetic surgery!

Your 40’s

Goal: Keep Wrinkles and Age Spots Away

f you ever neglected or mistreated your skin in your youth or in the past, Your  40’s is when you will truly  experience the negative results. For example, If you  spent most of your time in the sun or baking in tanning beds, or  if you were  smoked heavily, didn’t have enough sleep or lived a high-stress lifestyle, -it will all likely start to show in your skin. You may start to notice fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet, blemishes, age spots and dull skin. Not only that, but changes in your skin’s texture may become obvious, and your face and hands can transition to becoming dry and flaky.

Fortunately, such skin troubles in your 40’s can be improved. With the proper daily skin care routine, the overall condition of your skin can be improved, -even in your forties. It may involve more procedures and could cost more money than when you were in your twenties, but your skin will thank you!

Your 50’s +

Goal: Don’t Let Menopause Wreck Havoc on Your Skin

Our fifties are a  time when many women notice the most dramatic changes in their skin – if skin damage did not surface  itself in the 40’s , it will surely appear your 50’s . Overexposure to the sun  from our youth will present itself in the form of  deep wrinkles and fines lines, the skin underneath our eyes may become a little puffier.

Many women are also entering menopause in their 50’s , thus the major changes to their hormonal levels may create a whole new set of skin conditions. The reduction in progesterone and estrogen levels will cause skin to become thinner and increasingly delicate, as a result, extra care is needed as well as a new skin routine to adjust to the drastic change in your skin.

Here’s to aging  gracefully and beautifully!
