Bare Minerals Makeup is gaining more and more popularity with women these days since it is very easy to apply and yields pleasing results. This kind of makeup is all natural being made from minerals taken straight from the earth. These minerals are crushed down into a powder which when applied, creates an excellent all natural coverage. Mineral makeup hides most imperfections and blemishes while at the same time maintaining your natural beauty.
Women are going crazy on this type of makeup because it is made from all natural ingredients. You can expect bare mineral makeup not to contain any of the preservatives, oils, talc, or fragrances found in other types of makeup. There has been a lot of talk and concern about the contents of the makeup women have been using for the past years. Many of them realized that the makeup they are using is not healthy for their skin. If you have been suffering from skin irritations you may want to explore the idea of changing your makeup. Try out the bare minerals makeup first and see if the situation improves.
One of the advantages you can derive from using this type of makeup is that it is very light. Most of the time you won’t even notice that you are indeed wearing makeup due to its lightness. Aside from that, it will not clog up your skin pores thereby reducing the risk of having pimples. Many find pleasure in wearing bare mineral makeup as it perfectly fits today’s trends of going the natural way.
Another interesting fact about the mineral makeup is that, though it looks like a powder and is applied like one, it is actually silky and creamy to feel when you get to apply it on your facial skin. This is the reason why this kind of makeup provides long lasting results and more importantly it’s suitable for all skin types.
In addition, you will be the judge on how much you want to apply on your skin. You can apply it either natural or thin layer makeup. You can also apply as much as you like depending on your preference and the coverage you want to have. So go ahead and try bare minerals makeup just take note though that once you try it, you may never want to go back to your previous product.
Skin Care Advice for Blemished Skin

Blemished skin can regain its clarity by using the right method and products. Blemished skin should be treated with gentle care and harsh products that strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture should be avoided as they can make the situation worse. Below are a few ways to make sure that you get clear, even blemish free skin using effective and uncomplicated methods:
- Use mild face wash or cleanser whenever you wash your face. Avoid cleansers that lather up too much and may contain ingredients that will over dry and irritate your skin further.
- Follow up your cleansing with a mild toner, this will kill bacteria that stay on skin and causes breakouts.
- Use a mild moisturizer for your skin; wipe off with a wet cotton ball any excess.
- Use an oil free sunscreen on your face, neck and shoulders; protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays.
- Avoid over washing your face, this can lead to further irritation.
- Do not pick or squeeze any pimples or blackheads! This will lead to permanent scarring.
- Make sure that you properly exfoliate your skin with a micro bead scrub, avoid other scrubs that don’t read “micro bead”, they can tear & damage your skin.
- A quick homemade tip: Blend and prepare a face mask for blemished or acne prone skin by using honey, 1tsp tea tree oil, chamomile and kaolin clay, mix together, apply to your face with a cotton ball, keep on your face for 5 minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water.
The skin care routine above is effective in minimizing and eliminating pimples and blackheads as well as allowing your skin a healthy, vibrant glow.
*Note: If you develop allergic reactions to any of the above mentioned ingredients, please stop using them
No One Want To Look Their Age!

Younger looking skin is always in style, it always has been regardless of which century civilization was located in. Women in the 17th century used olive oil in order to achieve younger looking skin free of wrinkles and blemishes, women in the 21st century also have a bevy of anti-aging products to choose from on a daily basis.
As women get older, they usually prefer to look younger. Does that sound shallow? I don’t care if it does – we all feel that way, even men. Most people do not want to look their age. Skin care products and supplements would not contribute to the $1 billion dollar beauty industry if this wasn’t true.
Why is it that once a woman hits a certain age, they start lying about their age!

Food Can Make You Pretty
You’re mother was right – you are what you eat! Having a diet in place full of all the required foods can lead to a healthier, brighter complexion as well as clear skin firmer texture and fewer wrinkles.
Avoid Certain Foods:
Although greasy salty and fatty foods have yet to be directly linked to causing acne as well as other
skin problems; it wouldn’t be entirely out of context to say that such foods heavy in sugars, starch and unwanted carbohydrates merely benefit our bodies and our overall health.
10 Foods That Can Work Wonders For Your Skin:
1. Salmon
Eating fish may be good for your brain, but fish is also good for your skin! (Fatty types of fish such as sardines, mackerel, fresh tuna doesn’t count). Including Fish as part of your menu (at least three times a week) can work wonders on dry or sensitive skin and eczema.
For those who are unable to enjoy seafood, -try fish oil supplements. Or if you happen to be vegetarian, try flax-seed oil, as it contains a plant-based version of the Essential Fatty Acids.
2. Green Tea
Green tea benefits the heart and is now also used as one of the ingredients in many top-of-the-line skin care creams. The reason? Green tea is full of antioxidants, called catechins, which are also useful in fighting viruses as well as slowing the aging process. Recommended amount: Try to have about 1-2 cups a day.
3. Oranges & Grapefruit
Your body can’t store all the required wrinkle-fighting vitamin C, so in order to keep your skin’s vitamin C levels high, it’s important to eat atleast one orange a day.
Vitamin C helps to keep collagen( the supportive protein fibers that stop skin from sagging) strong and resilient. (loose collagen results in fine lines and wrinkles). Since collagen starts to really deteriorate in your mid-30s, keeping citrus fruits within reach will help keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.
4. Spinach
Contains a healthy dose of Vitamin A, -which supports skin cell turnover, and enables the process that keeps cell growth and development operating flawlessly. With a lack of Vitamin A, your skin will become dry, tough, and scaly.
5. Low fat Probiotic Yogurt
Contains friendly bacteria, pro-biotic yogurt is full of the good bacteria – Lactobacillus Acidophilus( if you want to be precise) – that helps keep your digestion track in shape and also benefits your skin by keeping it smooth with Vitamin A!
6. Berries
Instead of indulging in sweets and other empty calories, try berries! Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries are full of antioxidants such as vitamin E and C that are really good for your skin. The vitamin C in berries is great for restoring skin, and is important for keeping your complexion smooth.
*Best of all, berries are customizable & delicious so it’s no task to include them into your diet;- use them as dessert, snack or sprinkle them on your breakfast cereal!
7. Whole Grain Foods
A healthy digestion track is very important for your complexion – after all, if your body is unable to get rid of waste properly, toxins are able to build up and show on your skin.
Wholegrain versions of foods such as bread and pasta are full of fiber that is important for your digestion (wholegrain foods also keep you feeling full for a longer time), plus iron and another skin-benefiting nutrients such as vitamin B. Replace your everyday processed ‘white’ carbs for wholegrain substitutes, such as granary bread in place of white sliced loaves as well as brown rice for long-grain rice.
8. Water
Our bodies are made up of 70% water, so it makes sense that hydrating our body will reap benefits through well moisturized and supple skin. It’s all about good bottled or filtered water in its purest form,- not sodas or energy drinks! Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses a day everyday.
9. Nuts
Nuts are full of skin-benefiting nutrients, especially vitamins A and E. Vitamin A & E are well known antioxidants as they protect our bodies and skin against pollutants as well as sun damage. Like oily fish, nuts and seeds nuts also contain good fats to keep your complexion nourished and smooth.
10. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Olive is used to soothe sunburn and other skin issues by applying it directly to the skin. Olive oil also contains good fats as well as the antioxidant vitamin E, it is also beneficial to the heart. Although at times expensive, Olive oil’s health and skin benefits far outweigh its cost! If you are able to , use it in place of your regular cooking oil, sprinkle on salads, pasta dishes and pizza.
Remember: You just may be what you eat and food can go a long way in benefiting your skin!
Side Effects of a Chemical Peel

Rihanna’s Skin Care Stings!
I have yet to get a skin peel, although I heard that getting one does in fact get rid of some of those stubborn dark marks that just won’t go away. Hyper-pigmentation can sometimes be treated through chemical peels…Not too sure about chemical peels (I have sensitive skin), but Rihanna got one and here’s what she had to say :
I had a facial and I wasn’t used to getting them. It was right before I filmed the video for Umbrella.’ They gave me this peel – [the facialist] was like,
Oh yeah, you should do a peel,
and I’m like, Okay, yeah, of course, I’ll do a peel.
I didn’t have any idea what it was. My skin was so sensitive and irritated, and when I went to do the video, the makeup started to burn me so badly. It started to really, really, really burn. We just had to blow it and fan it. It burned until it couldn’t burn anymore.”
Chemical Peels do cause extreme sun sensitivity and sunscreen should always be applied at all times when outdoors.
- Women of color should take precautions when using skin peels, aggressive skin peels may aggravate and upset melanin production, -thus resulting in darkening of the skin.

Evening Primrose Oil: How Does it Work?
Evening Primrose Oil helps in balancing hormones during the transition stage (from extra hormones from the birth control pills). It also has other benefits, such as easing cramps during your period, and significantly reduction your flow (no more heavy bleeding!).
Evening primrose is also great for weight control and reducing high blood pressure. It is safe in its natural form and can be used by both young and old women. For the older ladies, primrose oil can reduce hot flashes =). I love it most of all, because it significantly improves acne! My fingernails also grew longer and stronger!
How to take it? :
Orally, you can get Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) in soft gel capsules that are easy to swallow. Usually I buy mine at specialty vitamin stores like GNC.
* Evening primrose has shown the best results when used with Zinc, I’d say just 50mg/day works the best.

Chemical Skin Peels, Are They For You?

Chemical peels are the most popular and convenient skin resurfacing cosmetic procedures. A chemical peel is best described as a non-invasive cosmetic procedure with a main purpose of improving the overall skin texture through the application of a chemical solution.
Types of Chemical Peels:
Chemical peels range from mild, medium and deep treatments;
- Mild treatment- are done using glycolic acid peels and are effective to remove superficial scars, fine lines and wrinkles.
- Medium treatments- are done using Trichloroacetic acid.
- Deep treatments involve use of phenol and target more severe problems such as coarse wrinkles, pre-cancerous growths and prominent scars
How Much does a Chemical Peel Cost?
Each cosmetic procedure is different and has a separate cost depending on the chemical used. In general, a mild treatment averages from $150 to $300. Medium treatment involving a full-face chemical peel costs between $1,000 and $2,000. In both the treatment procedures, multiple treatment sessions are required according to skin condition.
Try a gentle TCA peel or Lactic Acid or Vitamin C serum!
What do I mean by gentle? No product concentration over 25%
If you have sensitive skin (like me), a lactic acid peel is your best option, it contains some of the same ingredients found in milk, thus it’s a more soothing peel. It works for me and my skin tone has greatly greatly improved!
Number of times recommended to use Lactic acid peel: once a month
After The Cosmetic Peel:
* ALWAYS use SPF 30+ when going in direct sunlight, especially after a skin peel( when your skin is the most sensitive). This will ensure that any discolorations you are trying to treat, do not get darker!
Results May Vary depending on What Chemical or Enzyme Peel You Use:
*Make sure any skin care products you decide to use aren’t full of parabens or alcohol! (These ingredients will irritate your skin ’till you WILL hate yourself! Always make sure that a certified professional Doctor Dermatologist (MD) administers treatment, do your research!! There’s glamorous about at home cheap cosmetic procedures!
